ABN AMRO: No 1 seed Andy Murray faces Vasek Pospisil in second round on Thursday

Andy Murray: Meets Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the second round in Rotterdam

Andy Murray plays his second game in as many days on Thursday when he faces Vasek Pospisil at the ABN AMRO in Rotterdam.

The No 1 seed took one hour and 33 minutes to defeat Nicolas Mahut in the first round, showing a superb work rate and consistency during rallies.

It was a positive return to the court for Murray following his disappointment at the Australian Open. The Scot took a five-day break after losing the Melbourne final to Novak Djokovic and says he is feeling the benefits.

"I got here early and tried to get used to the conditions and I felt quite fresh,” he said.

"I feel better than I did at this point last year when I was still having issues with my back and finding that quite difficult to deal with, but now I feel physically better - I played some good tennis in Australia and so far here it's been a good start."

Pospisil, the world No 59, defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets in the opening round. The Canadian converted three of his four break points as he clinched victory in 61 minutes.

Murray’s meeting with Pospisil is third on centre court on Thursday, and the first match is an all-French affair as Jeremy Chardy meets eighth seed Gilles Simon.

Also in action is Australian Open semi-finalist Tomas Berdych. The third seed faces Andreas Seppi, the Italian who shocked Roger Federer in Melbourne.

In the evening session, Stan Wawrinka meets Spain’s Gullermo Garcia-Lopez, while second seed Milos Raonic faces Simone Bolelli.
