Andreas Seppi defeats James Ward in the PBZ Zagreb Indoors

James Ward: Beaten in three sets by Andreas Seppi

James Ward came up just short against Andreas Seppi in the second round of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors.

The British No 2 battled back from a break down in the second set to level the match but was unable to complete the comeback as 41st-ranked Seppi, who upset Roger Federer at the Australian Open, triumphed 7-5 6-7 (4-7) 6-3.

It was nevertheless another encouraging display from Ward, who is ranked 109th and looking to break into the world's top 100 for the first time.

Meanwhile, British duo Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray lost 7-6 (8-6) 6-7 (5-7) 11-9 to New Zealand pair Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak in the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at the Open Sud de France in Montpellier.
