IT’S a true modern-day romance.
Boy meets girl on the train, the two hit it off but he forgets to get her number and asks Twitter to help find her.
So begins Angus Mainland’s story, who turned to social media for help after meeting a girl on the train on the way to a sporting match.
The 19-year-old student sat next to the girl, who had an Italian accent, on his way to watch football team Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday.
The pair apparently hit it off and he even snapped some selfies with her, later posting the pictures to social media declaring he was in love and that he had found his wife.

The only problem was when she got off he didn’t get the chance to ask for her number, so he asked the internet, and the rail company Cross Country Trains for help to track her down.

His post was retweeted more than 4500 times and he said he never expected the response he did.
“At half time it had got 30 retweets and after full time it was over 100,” he told local paper The Croydon Advertiser.
“My friend who’s a Southampton fan said that if I got 2000 retweets then he’d get a tattoo to commemorate Palace’s incredible win.
“I never expected to have that kind of response, it’s been incredible. The majority of people responding have been supportive.”
My phone hasn't stopped going off. This is mad.

Luckily for him, he managed to find her and the pair are now talking, much to the delight of the Twittersphere.
However, so far he appears to be tight-lipped about who the mystery woman is.
Thank you to everyone who retweeted! You can call of the search, I've found her and am talking to her! She's taken it very well!

Could this be a sign a potential romance is on track? Twitter seems to think so and even the train company want to know how it all turns out.
@Angus66Mainland Feel free to drop us a Direct Message, it's only right to let us know how things go! Glad something came from it! - Andy
